Power Efficiency The BladeRack 2 X-Series accepts native power from the power grid. Its high power efficiency at the rack level allows it to turn the power into compute cycles without expending excess wattage on cooling any unnecessary heat. Power efficiency plays a key role in data center TCO due to rising energy costs and the trend towards data center consolidation. BladeRack 2 XT The BR2-XT accepts native 480VAC 3-Phase power off the grid which results in fewer power conversions and higher efficiency. A Front End Rectifier (FER) in the rack then converts the traditional AC power to more efficient DC power for the blades and also steps it up to 800VDC resulting in lower power requirements and a savings of up to 35% on power costs. BladeRack 2 XL and XM The innovative power system of the BR2-XL/XM utilizes 208VAC power for blades and enables higher platform density because it does not need an FER for each row. This boosts system density by 9% over that of the BR2-XT while still maintaining dramatically increased efficiency from competing blade-based solutions. The BladeRack 2 XL/XM utilizes a cost effective AC power solution. Each blade features an 80%+ efficient power supply. BladeRack 2 E-Class The BladeRack 2 E-Class utilizes cutting edge power blades to control rows of up to ten blades with the option of a second power blade to provide redundancy at the shelf level. These power blades are 90% efficient at 208VAC (similar solutions use power supplies that are less than 75% efficient). The distributed DC architecture of the platform utilizes an ultra efficient DC power solution that provides reliability and more capable thermal management.
The BladeRack 2 E-Class is an ideal solution for customers in verticals like financial services. Its combination of security provided by redundant distribution modules and power inputs with extreme efficiency form a solution that is ideal for critical applications. |
